Waterfront & Lakefront Properties
The area to east of the city of Williams Lake, in the foothills of the Cariboo Mountains has many beautiful lakes, rivers and creeks. There are opportunities for waterfront and lakefront properties in a vast area taking in the towns of Horsefly, Likely and Big Lake.
Quesnel Lake has over l00 miles of waterfront on a pristine wilderness lake that is comprised of two arms. The North Arm has 25 miles of waterfront, the East Arm has 34 miles of waterfront, and the main lake has approx 40 miles of waterfront. It is shaped as a giant “Y”. The area where the North & East Arms meet is called the Junction and there is a developed area of waterfront property at this location. You will find Marshall Creek Road and the end of Haggen’s Point Road in this location. This area is serviced with power.
Also on Quesnel Lake is the Mitchell Bay area where you will also find lakefront properties. Tianna Road, Horsefly Bay, and Mitchell Bay all have good road access and most have power and phone. The third developed area on Quesnel Lake that offers lakefront property is the village of Likely. The area has good road access, power & phone. Beyond the village of Likely you can access waterfront at the Winkley Creek area. Scattered through out this huge lake there are lakefront properties that are accessible by water only, or via logging road. The majority of the lakefront is Crown Land with many excellent areas for camping, swimming, fishing, etc.
Horsefly Lake is 35 miles long with crystal clear water and an excellent Provincial Park. The developed area of the lake is the west end where there are waterfront properties available on Millar Road, Hatchery Road and the Horsefly Landing area. Full services are available in those areas. Cougar Bay and False Arm each have small developments of waterfront property. Up the lake, beyond “the narrows” there are scattered lakefront cottages with boat access only (or rough logging road). Horsefly Lake is a perfect lake for boating, with relatively calm water and many places to explore, picnic or camp.
There are hundreds of smaller lakes in the east Cariboo area and some offer waterfront properties. McKinley Lake, Starlike Lake, Antoine Lake, Morehead Lake, and a few others have waterfront properties. Most other small lakes are surrounded by Crown Land and have boat access. A good back road map will show locations and campsites.
The Horsefly River, Beaver Creek, Moffat Creek, Quesnel River and many other small creeks and streams have waterfront on rural, ranches & farm type properties. Beautiful valleys have been created by these natural rivers with excellent soil and scenery. The sound of water running by is relaxing and attracts many types of birds and wildlife. The natural flora growing along the streams provides good natural habitat.
Living on waterfront property is a deluxe lifestyle and most people who do so become stewards of the environment, helping to protect these beautiful areas from over-development. You will find that here are some very beautiful ranches, farms for sale in BC with waterfront access. Every day brings a new scene on the water ranging from perfect serenity to wild storms where you are running to protect your boat. Sitting on the dock or patio watching the water is entertainment and relaxation at it’s best. Recreational activities for the young and the young at heart are limited only by your imagination. Watching the sun rise or set over sparkling water and listening to the loons and grebes tell stories is a special experience that is appreciated by many people who live or camp at the lake.
Take time out of your busy life to enjoy some time at the waterfront!
